Illustrations, I mean.
Take, for instance, Beatrix Potter.
I love Miss Potter’s cozy, detailed style. She mixes soft colors with delicate lines to create timeless, loveable illustrations. She’s one of my primary role models.
Then there’s Tasha Tudor:
Mrs. Tudor’s beautiful style contained more vivid colors than Beatrix Potter’s art. I find their styles very similar, and both highly inspirational. (unfortunately there weren’t many Tudor works available on Flickr for me to post.)
I adore the works of Ernest Shepard. He makes lines come alive. His drawings exude personality and character. He illustrated the original Winnie The Pooh and Wind in the Willows, for starters.
It never ceases to amaze me how he could make such minimal, light lines come alive! And his watercolors were amazing.
Those are a few of my favorite illustrators. Whose works do you enjoy?
